Wiring Diagram For 2010 Ford Escape Ecm

I had quite a long post typed out and some how closed it on accident....:mad2::mad2::mad2::incazzato:

Short version:
My 05 Escape with an LD comptuer had the faulty plugs installed at the factory and they killed the PCM at the end of July with 94K miles on the odometer.

Ford didn't help me out.

Ford's parts would cost right at $1700.00 before labor.

I did the work my self with the exception of reprograming the replacement PCM.

Tow the vehicle any where you take it. Don't drive the vehicle until you repair it as running the engine without it firing all of the cylinders will load the exhaust system with oil, wash the cylinder walls down with fuel which causes excessive wear as the fuel washes the oil off, and you'll load the engine oil up with fuel which is hard on parts as well.

The PCM can be reflashed by a dealer for you. My local Ford Dealer let me do the swap in their parking lot after pulling the info off of the old PCM and then flashed my replacement PCM. The total charge was $47.00 for their work.

Make sure you take two keys with you as they need at least two to properly set the replacement PCM. If you only have one key, then have the parts counter cut a second key for you while you are there, before you start programing the replacement PCM.

I installed WeaponX coils instead of Ford Coils or other "OEM" offerings. Read this link for info on why:

Consider replacing your PCV valve while you have the upper intake off.

The PCM I used was a AAD part code PCM from a 2006 Mazda Tribute. Remember, my Escape is an 05 Ford Escape that was originally equiped with an LD PCM. I've had the car on the road for three weeks now doing everything from daily driving to work, moving out of a house with heavy loads, and a 4 hour drive away vacation into the mountains of NC. The AAD computer has been flawless!!! I purchased mine off of Car-Part.com for $80.00. The LD-LH computers were selling for 350-375 when you could find them. Once in a blue moon you'll see one show up for 100-150 on Car-Part.com. I managed to be the first in line for an LD-LH for $110.00. An hour later I got a call back from the yard saying they were not going to sell it to me because a local guy they do business with on a regular basis needed it. :mad2: After that I decided to give the AAD a try.

One part I also changed out that I thought I'd mention that no one else has spoken of...I have the "Factory" Ford Service/Repair Manual set in paper back for my Escape. Included in that set is a detailed wiring diagram. I came across a Radio Frequency Interferance device that Ford installed in the ignition wiring. It's installed on the passenger side of the front valve cover. It's black, u shaped, with a single wire and an L bracket coming out of it. It's bolted into place with a valve cover stud. It costs about $12.50 to replace if you buy from the Ford parts counter. Given that the part is designed to absorb the feedback in the wiring as a stop block between the coils and the PCM, and the faulty plugs kill the PCM, it seems reasonable to argue that it could be damaged as well. The replacement, while marked with the same part number, had slightly different texture and slightly different text for the part number. To me this indicates a change in supliers...perhaps there's more to this entire situation that we will ever know.

Total cost including the cost of having the Ford tech program the PCM was just under $425.00, not counting the $100.00 tow fee to get it to my local dealer for programing.

If someone in my area needs a hand doing the job, let me know, I'd be happy to help. It only takes a few hours to swap the parts out.
